Biography

1965

Kash's family took up residence in Richmond, British Columbia. This would be the start of a lifelong commitment and love for the city.

1979-2009

Kash Heed began his policing career in 1979 with the Vancouver Police Department after graduating top of his class from the British Columbia Police Academy. Rising through the ranks to superintendent, he led major vice, drug, and gang enforcement initiatives and helped introduce data-driven policing. In 2007, he became Canada’s first Indo-Canadian chief constable, leading the West Vancouver Police Department before entering provincial politics in 2009 after a 30-year career in law enforcement.

2009

Kash ran for the BC Liberal Party in Vancouver-Fraserview, winning the riding for the 39th General Assembly as well as being appointed as Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General.

2022

Kash ran a successful bid for a seat on the Richmond City Council, under the slate of Richmond Rise. He has since been involved in several motions relevant to his platform for government transparency, holding accountability, and keeping the public safe.
